Franky is a fictional character in black and white – a geometrical minimalist vision, which aims to illustrate the decline, the stress, the traps and the global scheme in which otherwise unique individuals find themselves in, due to the circumstances or because of their own stupidity. The project sees modern man as a hostage of his own aspirations and as a victim of today’s social pitfalls – alienation, meaningless shopping, routine workdays. Thus, in an ironic way, the author comments on serious life problems.

Velizar has been developing Franky since 2009 – both in terms of layers of meaning and in various media: animation, objects, installations, paintings, drawings, photographs and interactive installation. Over the past ten years, objects and panels of the Franky series were displayed in galleries in Bulgaria (for example in 2010 in Sofia Gallery Raiko Alexiev as part of the Gaudenz Ruf award nominees exhibition), exhibition of young contemporary Bulgarian art in Rotterdam, Netherlands (2011) and “Franky’s World” overall presentation in London (2014).
